The Cup in Qatar - FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024

The FIFA Intercontinental Cup 2024 marked a new chapter for Corzek. It was the first collaboration between FIFA and Corzek. Across twelve days in Qatar, two iconic stadiums hosted three unforgettable games in an annual tournament designed to discover the best club in the world.

The Commission

The invitation to FIC24 was an opportunity for Corzek’s canvas to be displayed on the international stage, featuring clubs from three continents. Corzek approached Qatar with the same philosophy that defines every project: to elevate mobile-first videos into permanent moments of history.

Corzek had one artisan on the ground in Doha and one remote editor working from London, enabling more content to be produced during a busy tournament schedule.

Corzek sees content as art. The athletes’ performance on the pitch is a display of their human creativity, much like any other form of art. For this reason, it deserves to be displayed with that same level of consideration and dedication. In a mobile-centric world that football is shifting towards, videos and photos are often here today and then lost forever to the scroll. We aim to change these living moments into permanence. By stitching tens of hours into every video, they receive the consideration they deserve, making each one the definitive video people turn to in years to come. On a stage like FIC24, where the winners of the Champions League, Copa Libertadores, AFC Champions League, CAF, CONCACAF Champions Cup and OFC Champions League come together, there is no better platform to obsess over every detail.

The Games and the Canvas

Marking the two-year anniversary of the 2022 World Cup Final held at Lusail Stadium, this venue hosted the Final of FIC24. The Lusail Stadium, a theatre cemented in history, and Stadium 974 became the backdrops for three games that brought together some of the world’s most celebrated players. Each fixture carried its own rhythm and atmosphere, with Corzek’s lens treating them as scenes to be composed.

Moments that Transcend

Idrissi’s double take-on and strike was a moment of magic, reaching football fans across the world and amassing over 80 million views in just two days. Idrissi himself referenced Corzek’s video in a FIFA interview, noting the beauty of the moment. Goalkeeper Carlos Moreno also highlighted how viral the moment had become back home in Mexico during a global press conference.

Rodrygo’s take-on in the Final was the tournament’s most viewed video of all time on the @FIFAWorldCup Instagram account, reaching 114 million people with 8.2 million likes. When combined with views from other platforms (TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook), the video achieved 229 million total views.

Our Beliefs

Corzek believes that some of the athletes’ most creative moments happen when they are in a free state. There is no better way to capture this than in training. However, due to the nature of tactics, gaining access is often challenging. Thanks to FIFA and Real Madrid, Corzek was able to film their full training session two days before the Final. This allowed Corzek to capture Rüdiger surrounded by his peers as he scores and celebrates. A moment which would never have seen the light of day without Corzek. Instead, it brought a smile to over 30 million people around the world.

The Craft Behind the Scenes

With access provided by FIFA, Corzek was able to capture moments that, for many, would never have been seen. The pitch walkout with Jude Bellingham, captured in collaboration with his official channel, portrayed his raw emotions as he stepped onto the pitch for the first time.

Vinícius Júnior

The airport arrival of Vinícius Júnior was reimagined as performance. The simple act of stepping into Doha was transformed into a story. Corzek’s colour grade shifted full focus onto Vinícius, drawing attention to specific accessories.

Reach and Resonance

In twelve days, fourteen artworks were published. Together, they accumulated more than 580 million views across all platforms, making it the most viewed FIFA Intercontinental Cup of all time. The average audience per artwork was 41.2 million. These are not numbers for the sake of scale, but proof that artistry in football resonates across the globe. The response demonstrates that audiences engage not only with goals and trophies, but with the framing of football as something greater.

Looking Forward

The FIFA Intercontinental Cup was a beginning. It was Corzek’s first collaboration with FIFA and a new demonstration of how football can be immortalised through artistry. Corzek looks forward to working alongside FIFA to continue to create videos that highlight the beauty of football and reinforce the statement that athletes are artists.
